Pulp Fiction Dance Scene

This brilliant clip from Pulp Fiction popped up on YouTube the other day. The dance scene is easily as famous as John Travolta’s dance scene in Saturday Night Fever.

Quentin Tarantino has revealed that the scene was inspired by Jean-Luc Godard’s masterful 1964 crime drama Bande à part (starring Anna Karina) which had an iconic dance scene of its own.

Travolta has also added that they improvised quite a bit using dance moves like The Spin, The Batman, and The Hitchhiker. I still try and pull off these moves today when I am strutting my stuff on the dance floor but nobody can do it like Uma and John.

The movie completely revived John Travolta’s career and also launched the career of Samuel L Jackson.  The scene where they discuss the difference between McDonald’s Big Mac versus Burger Kings best has gone down in cinematic history.   Burger King didn’t fare too well in Travolta’s review but the whole scene drips cool elegance which is genius considering they are discussing weed and burgers.

Now I ‘m hungry. I am off to get me one of them juicy burgers. And then I might just dance around my living room to ‘Misirlou’.
